Popular online payment provider, Paypal, has started trials of a new service that would let users make payments directly over their cell phones or other mobile devices.

Paypal Mobile is currently being tested by employees of Paypal’s parent company, eBay, and will be publicly rolled out in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom within a few weeks.

Users will be able to register their devices with PayPal’s website, then create a secret password to protect against fraud and unauthorized use. After completing this simple process, any Paypal user will be able to make person-to-person payments, buy products and services, and donate to charities by sending product codes as text messages.
