T-Mobile Expects Declining Voice Revenues in Year to Come
12:40 am on March 8, 2006 | Category: Business, Corporate, Telecom Services, Wireless
T-Mobile CEO, Rene Obermann, recently predicted that the cost of mobile phone calls in Germany will drop by about 20% over the course of 2006, as a result of increased competition from wireless resellers.
Obermann says that he expects roaming rates to drop even more dramatically, by about 40%.
In order to make up for this lost revenue, T-Mobile is attempting to more heavily promote its 3G data services, including mobile video. In an attempt to capture the interest of sports fans, the provider has announced plans to broadcast 20 World Cup soccer matches this summer to its mobile data subscribers.
