UK Cell Phone Users More Likely to Vote in TV Polls
2:15 am on March 7, 2006 | Category: Telecom Services, Mobile Devices
Research firm M:Metrix has determined that British mobile phone users are twice as likely as their US and German counterparts to vote on a TV or radio poll via text messaging.
Nearly 22% of British users reported voting in some kind of radio or television poll, including those for reality TV shows. The same is true of only 12.1% of users in Germany, however, or a mere 7% in the United States.
This seems to reflect a sort of cultural habit in Europe, and especially the UK, which links cell phones with the media, and promotes interactivity between the two.
