With controversy still raging over AOL’s highly unpopular “email tax” measure, the ISP giant has been discovered blocking emails that linked to a petition against the concept.

AOL spokesman, Nicholas Graham, admitted that emails linking to DearAOL.com were not properly delivered on Thursday, but blamed the problem on a “software glitch,” and not malicious intent from the company.

Opponents of AOL’s paid email proposal, however, claim that AOL fully intended to hamper the petition effort, and was caught “red handed” in doing so. “AOL proved they cannot be trusted to preserve the free and open Internet,” wrote MoveOn.org’s Adam Green in a recent email.

Despite the ISP’s insistence that no one intentionally blocked the petition emails, it does seem a bit too odd that this “glitch” only affected an anti-AOL email being sent over AOL servers. Way too big a coincidence if you ask me…
