Over 40,000 people are expected to converge at Las Vegas this week for the 2006 CTIA Wireless trade show, in order to survey the progress of the cutting-edge wireless communication industry.

The event is being facilitated by the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA), and is well known for consistently showcasing advances in handheld communication technology.

Some of the main topics on the agenda include the growing popularity of mobile virtual network operators, which resell wireless telephone services, as well as the ongoing debate over WiMAX versus 3G cellular broadband technology.

“When all of this gets smashed together and out into the grinder and spit out the other end, then it will have a definition,” commented show director, Rob Mesirow, when asked for a short explanation of today’s wireless industry.

The CTIA show is set to begin next Wednesday (April 5th), and promises many exciting revelations about the direction of the wireless media and communication industry.
