Mobile phone carriers in Europe have published a study criticizing the European Commission’s plan to eliminate wireless roaming charges within the continent.

The companies claim that eliminating the charges would take a significant bite out of industry-wide revenues, and force them to raise domestic calling charges.

The study also predicts that many customers would be compelled to get around the system by setting up two separate accounts, one for cheap domestic usage, and one for roaming. This would further bite into revenues, and create a vicious circle, creating great inconvenience for everyone involved, including customers.
