The class action lawsuit against telecom giant, AT&T’s illegal surveillance activities is gaining ground, with a former employee revealing information about the company’s activities.

Former AT&T technician, Mark Klien, comfirmed that the company cooperated with the National Security Agency’s illegal spying program by installing equipment for “vacuum-cleaner surveillance of email and internet traffic.

Klein has also revealed several company documents that he saved after retiring in 2004. The documents describe a secret room in AT&T’s internet and telephone hub, which was home to a piece of machinery that could sift through large volumes of internet data traffic.

This information will likely be very helpful to civil liberties group, Electronic Frontier Foundation, in proving their case that the telecom giant wrongfully spied on its customers private communications.
