Popular online social networking community, MySpace, has recently entered the mobile universe, through a deal with Helio. Rival site, Facebook, meanwhile has cut deals with Cingular, Verizon, and Sprint Nextel to bring its services to cell phone users.

At this point, both services are mainly limited to basic messaging functions, but are expected to generate a lot of revenue for carriers, due to the high profit (and addictive) nature of SMS and picture messaging-based services.

As cell phone users gain access to social networking websites, it will be interesting to see how well-established internet brand like MySpace and Facebook stack up against made-for-mobile services like Rabble.
