Live TV: Coming Soon to Cell Phones

Qualcomm’s MediaFLO unit and Crown Castle International’s Modeo division are creating competing wireless broadcasting networks, which will be capable of bringing live TV to mobile phone users by the end of this year.
Crown Castle hopes to introduce its service in a few major markets in a few major markets late this year, but is still looking for a wireless carrier willing to sell the service.
Qualcomm’s MediaFLO offering, meanwhile, is all set to launch in partnership with Verizon Wireless in the early part of 2007.
