The world’s biggest handset maker, Nokia, introduced three new mobile phones yesterday, and announced some new partnerships to increase its leadership in the mobile multimedia market.

The latest devices have been added to Nokia’s N-Series of converged phones, and attempt to combine a number of different entertainment options into one device.

“Nokia N-Series brings mobility to those experiences which used to be linked to a place or a single purpose device,” said Nokia executive VP, Anssi Vanjoki, in a statement. “Our goal is to make it easy for people to have their favorite experiences with them all the time.”

Vanjoki also added that the company has already sold about 5 million phones from the original N-Series, since the models were launched late last year. He believes that this number increase steadily in the coming months and years, with the market for converged multimedia devices expected to almost double in 2006 alone.

The new phones include the N93, which functions as a video camcorder, 3.2-megapixel digital camera, and DVD-like video capture and stabilization functionality. The N93 will include free copies of Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 and Premiere Elements 2.0, as part of a deal with Adobe to bundle a complete video editing solution.

Nokia’s N72 and N73 handsets, also unveiled yesterday, will focus primarily on digital music with high quality audio features, and even an FM radio.

All three phones sport integrated digital cameras, and an easy-to-use photo upload feature, allowing users to transfer their photos to a Yahoo photo gallery.

The N72 is set to be available in the European market in June, with the N73 and N93 following sometime in July. Release dates for North America and other markets have not yet been announced.
