Qualcomm Announces First MediaFLO Content Deal
5:30 am on April 5, 2006 | Category: Telecom Services, Mobile Devices
Qualcomm’s MediaFLO division has managed to recruit the first major content partner for its live mobile TV service. Network Live, a joint venture of AOL, AEG, and XM Satellite Radio, will supply live streaming concert feeds and performer interviews for the MediaFLO network.
Qualcomm has been quite secretive about MediaFLO for the past few months, but is expected to reveal more details about the service, and show some live demos at the upcoming CTIA Wireless trade show.
Many more MeidaFLO content partnerships are expected in the coming months, in preparation for the service’s launch in early 2007. A trial launch will probably take place by the end of this year, in order to keep pace with Crown Castle’s competing DVB-H-based offering, Modeo.
