ISP giant, AOL, has announced plans to offer free incoming phone calls as part of its AIM instant messaging offering.

All of the major instant messaging applications, including Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, and of course, Skype, now offer some sort of free online VoIP functionality. AOL, however, hopes to enhance its service by being the first to offer a free phone number for calls from landline and mobile phones.

For $14.95/month, users can upgrade to AIM Phoneline Unlimited, which enables them to make free PC-to-Phone long distance calls within the U.S., and about 30 other countries.

In addition to the free incoming calls, AOL also plans launch a blogging service, which will be integrated with the AIM instant messaging offering.

    2. I have been using AOL’s AIM VoIP for almost a year now. I am using the $14.95 a month program. I have been very happy with. I never have problems and it is loud and clear. I like the answer service also.
