D-Link Adapter Integrates Skype with Your Home Phone
6:30 am on May 11, 2006 | Category: VoIP, Telephone
Many users of Skype’s internet VoIP offering purchase a separate Wi-Fi handset for use with the service, so as to make online phone calls when away from the computer, using a “real” phone, as opposed to a computer.
But now, D-Link has come up with a new solution to help VoIP users avoid the trouble and expense of getting a separate handset for their Skype calls. It is now possible to make these calls directly on your home phone, using the D-Link DPH-50U USB phone adapter.
With two RJ-11 ports, and one USB plug-in, the DPH-50U connects to your phone line, home phone, and computer, allowing you to create a converged IP-enabled calling network in your own home or office.
Another handy feature is the ability to have your calls forwarded to your cellular phone, whenever you need to leave home. At just $69.99, this device is a great solution for both small business users and consumers.
