eBay’s internet VoIP division, has released a beta version of Skype 2.5, the latest version of its highly popular free online communication software.
The new version lets paying customers add money to their SkypeOut accounts directly from the software interface, rather then from the company’s website, making it easier for users to make paid calls to landline and mobile phones outside the Skype’s free PC-to-PC network.
Other convenient features added to the interface include a drop down menu that lets SkypeOut users choose the country they wish to call by name, rather than entering a numerical country code. Integration with Microsoft Outlook in another handy feature, letting users view their Outlook contacts from within Skype, and place calls to those contacts at the click of a button.
Last but not least, the beta also makes it possible to send text messages to SMS-enabled mobile phones, at a cost of $0.11 per message.
