American cell phone maker, Motorola, has announced a legal settlement with Korean handset manufacturer, KBT Mobile Company, Ltd., for infringement on several patents and trademarks.

KBT was accused of ripping off the design of Motorola’s popular RAZR cell phone, and has now agreed to stop manufacturing and selling the lookalikes.

“We are very pleased that KBT has acknowledged Motorola’s legitimate and protected rights to Motorola RAZR-related patents, trademarks and designs,” said Yvonne Verse, Motorola’s VP of Global Intellectual Property Management and Licensing.

“To create competitive advantage, Motorola invests extensive human and financial resources to bring compelling innovations to market,” Verse went on to say. “Around the world, we are committed to protecting our investments – and we are prepared to vigorously defend our innovations through enforcement of our intellectual property rights.”
