Internet Video Puts Pressure on Traditional Television Media

As more and more media and entertainment becomes available on the internet, corporate advertising dollars are being allocated accordingly, putting pressure on the profits of television broadcasting.
There is little doubt that the internet, and now the increasing popularity of IPTV, is causing trouble for the traditional television business model.
As the larger media industry evolves, television will be forced to evolve right along with it, and networks will need to distribute content through a variety of media if they hope to reach the widest audience. Some have already started doing this through deals with Apple iTunes and other popular content distributors.
Cable companies, meanwhile, have their own difficult challenges ahead, and will likely be forced to offer more programming on demand, to satisfy consumers’ increasing desire for instant gratification.
