As advanced media services increase in popularity, more and more local television stations are offering their daily news programming in the form of a podcast, which can be downloaded onto a computer or mobile phone.
In Boston Massachusetts, for example, Sprint Nextel and Verizon Wireless subscribers are given access to mobile news, traffic, and weather content, courtesy of the city’s local CBS affiliate, CBS4.
Boston’s local NBC station, WHDH-TV, has also gotten in on the mobile content game, delivering weather forecasts and school closure information to viewers via SMS messaging.
Similar offerings are made available by other television stations and wireless networks in cities throughout North America.
