This past weekend has seen a lot of speculation about a partnership between Apple and Research In Motion, all triggered by Canaccord Capital analyst, Peter Misek’s musings about the possibility of such a deal.

Misek, who gained a lot of credibility last year when he correctly predicted a partnership between RIM and Intel, now says that the Apple Computer and the BlackBerry maker would do well to collaborate with one another. He says that Apple is looking for a way in to the highly competitive world of wireless email, while RIM would be smart to expand its reach to the consumer market.

A successful collaboration between the two companies would likely result in either an iTunes-enabled BlackBerry, or an Apple iPod-branded cell phone with RIM’s wireless email software built in. Most bloggers and analysts seem to believe that the latter idea has the most potential, but some potential hang ups still remain.

The two co-CEOs of Research In Motion and Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, are all known for their strong personalities, and some disagreements might surface if they were to work as a trio, analysts have speculated. Jobs, especially, has already had his share of issues working with Motorola on the ROKR, another iTunes-enabled cell phone.

At this point, no one from either RIM or Apple has commented on Misek’s theory, leaving the floor wide open for industry watchers to debate if and how the two companies will work together.
