Embarq Launches Converged Landline-Mobile Voicemail Feature
6:00 am on July 17, 2006 | Category: Business, Telecom Services, Telephone, Wireless
After just a few months as an independent company, Embarq has announced its first fixed-mobile convergence service, in the form of an integrated voicemail system for wireless and fixed-line subscribers.
This move represents Embarq’s desire to build a stronger presence in the converged communication market, while building customer loyalty though bundling. The company launched its own MVNO wireless service last month, by leasing access to the CDMA network of former parent, Sprint Nextel.
One Voicemail, as the integrated voicemail feature is called, is Embarq’s first attempt at combining its wireless and landline phone services into a single converged offering. It allows customers to retrieve messages left on either line from a single mailbox and alerts both the home and mobile phones if a message is left on either device.
