America’s #2 telecom provider, Verizon Communications, is moving its fiber optic IPTV service deeper into the territory of Cablevision Systems Corp., proving that it is ready and willing to compete with the New York-based cable operator.

Verizon’s FiOS TV offering is now available to customers in the Oyster Bay area, which is home to Cablevision Chairman and founder, Charles Dolan.

The telecom giant was granted a video franchise in May, which allows it to serve the town of Oyster Bay, including several outlying villages. It is now offering a bundle of television, broadband, and digital phone service at a cost of just under $95/month.
