Verizon has recently begun providing a special 100 Mbps internet router to all new subscribers of its FiOS broadband and video service.

The router is supplied by ActionTec Electronics, and relies on in-home coaxial wiring to transmit a wireless broadband signal throughout a home.

The telecom giant is calling this the centerpiece of customers’ home networks, giving them the power to conveniently share their internet connections. It will increase the appeal of Verizon’s FiOS offerings, giving them a greater foothold in the broadband and video markets.
