Verizon Communications is planning to launch its own line of hands-free headsets, aimed at DSL and FiOS customers who make use of interactive applications such as online gaming and VoIP.

Audio gear manufacturer, GN Netcom, has agreed to produce and ship the headsets, as well as provide technical and customer support for the Verizon-branded devices.

“We will enhance our customers’ broadband experiences by offering them innovative headsets that are hands-free, convenient and have superb sound quality,” explained Verizon’s vice president of brand management and media services, Andrea Fant-Hobbs, in a prepared statement. “The headsets are the perfect complement to our services, including online gaming, music, video and other entertainment services. Our relationship with GN Netcom directly supports our commitment to provide our customers richer, deeper, broader communications experiences.”

Verizon already offers a number of other communication devices for use with its broadband internet services. These include wireless routers, web cams, and cordless VoIP telephones.
