Britain’s top radio and television network, the BBC, is currently working on plans for a new plug-in gadget capable of turning any MP3 music player into a digital radio.

As more and more listeners leave their radios at home in favor of digital audio players, the BBC is likely feeling the pinch on advertising revenues, and will stop at nothing to turn the tide in their favor.

“It’s important for to us to make sure that people can listen to digital radio on their own terms,” said a BBC spokesman, who declined to venture a release date for the new product, but said that “we would like to get something out sooner rather than later.”

The plug-in gadget will not be limited to BBC radio stations, and should therefore be of benefit to the UK radio industry in general.
