Competition has intensified in the UK’s broadband industry. Leading Internet Service Providers are now not only offering free internet service to loyal customers, but pumping up their advertising spending to unprecedented levels.

Britain’s top ISPs have increased their combined spending on media and internet advertising by 308% in the past week, following the launch of BSkyB’s free consumer broadband service.

BT, AOL, BSkyB, Orange, and Carphone Warehouse (TalkTalk) are scrambling to win new customers in one of the hottest competitive battles in the history of the UK telecom industry.
