Comcast marketing president, Marvin Davis, agrees with the industry consensus that competition will continue to intensify between cable and telephone providers.

When asked how the communication market’s competitive landscape has changed in the past year, Davis commented that competition continues to intensify between his company and telecom carriers such as Verizon and AT&T.

“The [telephone companies] are continuing with their aggressive price discounting and heavy media spending, both in terms of bundle and single-product activity,” Davis said. “We’re in an intense competitive environment. It just continues to get more intense.”

Davis is thought to have a strong understanding of telecom competition, as he himself worked in the marketing department at Verizon before joining Comcast 16 months ago.
