The FCC has given its stamp of approval to two new super-slim Samsung cell phones, destined to be sold by T-Mobile in the United States.

The forthcoming T629 will be just 7mm thick, and will pack a 2-megapixel digital camera, 80MB of internal memory, and a microSD slot for additional storage space. Samsung’s other new phone, the D840, will have a similar slate of features, including a digital camera, microSD slot, and 70MB of internal storage.

Both handsets will run on quad-band GSM technology with EDGE mobile data capability.

No word yet on when the new mobiles will be available, or how much they will cost, but they are set to be the next step in Samsung’s competitive assault the wildly popular Motorola RAZR, and other slim phones from America’s leading handset maker.
