Korean mobile phone maker, Samsung Electronics, claims to have become the first company to successfully demonstrate 4th generation (4G) wireless communication technology.

Tests were carried out on a moving bus travelling at 60 km per hour, and achieved data transfer speeds of up to 100 Mbps, or 50 times faster than the currently available mobile WiMAX standard.

“We hope to drive development and standardization of 4G mobile technology with this successful demonstration, and to realize our dream of beginning the 4G era,” commented Samsung’s Telecom Networking president, Lee Ki-Tae.
