Sprint Launches Pay-Per-View Mobile Movie Service

America’s number three wireless carrier, Sprint Nextel, has launched an interesting new service by the name of Sprint Movies, making it possible for subscribers to download movies on the go, on a pay-per-view basis.
“Sprint Movies allows our customers to be entertained on the one device that they always carry with them and during times when watching a movie at a theater or on a home entertainment system isn’t possible,” said Sprint’s director of entertainment product marketing, Alana Muller, in a recent news release.
“For example, customers can take their mind off a busy day during a lunch break, breeze through a few minutes while waiting in the parking lot for a child’s soccer practice to end, or make a two-hour delay at the airport much more bearable,” Muller went on to say. “And with child-friendly titles such as Herbie: Fully Loaded and Babe, Sprint Movies are also great to keep the kids busy in the backseat.”
A number of popular titles from Buena Vista, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, and Universal are now available to kick of the new service, and can be “rented†for between one and seven days, depending on the film. Prices range from $3.98 to $4.99 per movie, and 24-hour extensions are available for $0.99.
