Orlando has just become the first city in Florida to be covered by Cingular’s 3G mobile data network. The HSDPA-based service is now available throughout the metropolitan area, including the city’s airport and the University of Central Florida.

HSDPA technology allows subscribers to access email, surf the internet, use business networking applications, or download video clips at faster speeds than ever before. Download speeds range from 400-700 kbps, or roughly comparable to an entry-level DSL connection.

Cingular’s 3G service has been expanding rapidly for the past several months, and is now available in 55 of America’s largest metropolitan areas.
