America’s third largest cable provider, Cox Communications, has extended its digital telephone service to cover all 35 of its major metropolitan markets.

The company has finally launched the VoIP offering in Santa Barbara and Palos Verdes, California, the last two markets not previously covered by the service.

About 1.9 million U.S. households, along with 150,000 enterprise-level customers, have already signed up for Cox’s digital telephone offering, which became available in its current form in 2003. Those numbers already represent a significant percentage of Cox’s nationwide cable user base of 6.7 million.
