Cingular Wireless has announced the pending availability of its 8525-model PDA smartphone, an improvement on the Cingular 8125, which features the addition of HSDPA 3G mobile broadband technology.

Cingular’s rapidly expanding HSDPA wireless data network is now available in 134 U.S. markets (counting cities and suburbs), providing download speeds of 400 to 700 kbps, and average upstream bandwidth of 384 kbps. Those who purchase the new 8252 device will be able to make use of the carrier’s slower EDGE network in areas where HSDPA service is not available.

In addition to 3G data capability, the Cingular 8525 boasts the addition of TeleNav GPS Navigation software, which offers location-based GPS mapping, along with turn-by-turn on-screen and audio directions. The handset’s other features include a 2-megapixel digital camera, microSD expansion slot, built-in Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.0 wireless connectivity.

One of the few things not included is a Bluetooth-enabled GPS receiver, which must be purchased separately to make use of the TeleNav service.

The new 8525 cell phone is set to arrive in Cingular Wireless retail stores on November 16, and will be sold at a price of $399.99.
