First Beta Version of Skype 3.0 Now Available

Free online VoIP provider, Skype, released a new beta version of its internet telephony software yesterday, incorporating new features like public online discussions, and click-to-call e-commerce functionality.
The brand new “public chats†feature enables webmasters to host ongoing text messaging conversations, using the Skype software, and integrate them with an existing website. Another new feature, Skypecasting, makes it possible for up to 100 people to talk to each other in a live voice conversation.
Perhaps the most interesting new capability of all, however, is a click-to-call setting that automatically turns telephone numbers on websites into Skype buttons, allowing SkypeOut users to make quick and easy phone calls directly over the web. This feature is expected to stimulate the e-commerce and online auction industries, being especially useful to eBay Inc., which purchased Skype in 2005.
Skype has seen significant growth since passing into eBay’s hands, and is expected to generate revenue of $195 million in 2006. According to the latest official count, the free VoIP service has a total of 136 million registered users, only a small fraction of which subscribe to one of Skype’s paid offerings.

Hello there
I am looking nto using skype but I am
confused on a few things, can you help?
When I do to skype on google I see they
have a 2,5 Version and now they have a 3.0 version, how do I know which one to download? When I go to skype directly to download their
Version, all they have to offer is there 2.5 Version and “NOT” the 3.0 Version, so that’s confusing to me. Is there a difference between the 3.0 Beta Version and the 2.5 Version? What does the Beta Version mean? Is that Version strictly for Apple Computer Users? Where do I start and what Version is the best to begin with?

P.S. teleclick.ca is where I saw some info regarding skype and it is not my website.

The “beta version” is still in its testing phase, and not a final release. If you’re a beginner wanting to try Skype for the first time, version 2.5 is the best choice.
