Finnish cell phone manufacturer, Nokia, revealed yesterday that it is extending its partnership with Yahoo, and will soon offer the internet giant’s email and instant messaging programs on select handsets.

The roll-out will initially involve the Nokia 6300, 5200, and 5300 XpressMusic mobile phones, and will allow users to gain access to calendar, tasks, and contacts stored in their Yahoo accounts.

This expands on a partnership between the two companies, first announced in January, which made Yahoo’s mobile web browser available on a number of Nokia phones.

The addition of Yahoo Mail functionality adds weight to the predictions of many industry analysts, who expect email to become a mainstream feature on regular cell phones.
