Many of America’s top TV station websites saw record traffic last week during coverage of the midterm U.S. elections, according to Internet Broadcasting, which manages the websites of over 70 television channels nationwide.

Internet Broadcasting reported a total of 4.8 million page views of election coverage on November 7, or almost three times the election day views of the same sites during the 2004 presidential vote.

Statistics like these just go to show how closely integrated the internet has become with traditional news broadcasting, and how broadcasters are benefiting from this trend.
