America’s largest telephone carrier, AT&T Inc., has launched three new telephone service packages that will significantly lower the cost of advanced services, and conform more closely with the pricing structure of digital phone and VoIP services.

The new packages include up to 13 advanced features, such as call forwarding, call waiting, three-way calling, and auto redial, although voicemail and caller ID will remain separate services for the time being.

In addition to unlimited local calling and additional features, the highest-end $50 service comes with unlimited domestic long distance, and option usually offered by cable operators and pure-play VoIP providers.

The new packages have been rolled out primarily as a way to simplify the billing process and make it easier to order AT&T’s long distance telephone services.
