News distribution agency, Reuters, has announced the launch of a free, ad-supported mobile video service that will broadcast news and current events in the United States.
Available at the Reuters mobile website, the new service will provide special breaking news and business video segments, optimized for use on select smartphones, including the Palm 700w, Nokia E62, and BlackBerry Pearl.
“Adding video to our mobile site offers users a one-stop shop for all things Reuters on their mobile phones,” commented the general manager of Reuters Media, Stephen Smyth.
“We’ve seen an enormous increase in traffic to our mobile site in 2006 and have successfully sold mobile advertising to blue chip advertisers,” Smyth went on to say. “The opportunities for mobile video advertising are very exciting as consumers adopt more sophisticated phones that support video.”
