Sprint Nextel Working to Reduce Subscriber Churn Rate

Sprint Nextel’s Chief Financial Officer, Paul Saleh, has announced that his company is working on a number of important subscriber retention initiatives, and expects to significantly reduce its customer “churn” rate over the next year.
The number three American wireless carrier is struggling to catch up with leading rivals, Cingular and Verizon Wireless, but has been hampered by a high number of subscriber cancellations in recent quarters.
To combat this problem, Sprint is planning to re-target its marketing efforts and upgrade a number of its wireless networks, especially those that belonged to Nextel before the two companies merged in 2005.
