Over the past couple of days, reports have surfaced about a new worm that spreads through Skype, a popular online VoIP application.

Security experts say that this worm is not targeting Skype, but exploiting it to spread from one computer to the next. Once transferred, the worm installs a password-sniffing Trojan capable of stealing a user’s personal information.

The worm, code named W32 by Symantec, uses an encryption program to disguise it from detection engines, making it hard to catch with Anti-Virus software.

As always, Skype users are being warned not to click unknown links or download applications sent by other users they don’t already know.
