Quadruple-play telecommunications giant, AT&T Inc., has reached a media distribution agreement with broadcaster, YES Network, adding to the line-up of programming available on its IP-based fiber optic television service.

Under the new deal, subscribers to AT&T’s U-verse TV service in Connecticut will be able to view a strong lineup of YES content, including sports programming featuring the New York Yankees and New Jersey Nets. U-verse customers in other states will be able to purchase the content separately as part of “The Sports Package” program tier.

“AT&T U-verse TV customer in Connecticut can (now) enjoy one of the most watched regional sports networks in the country,” commented AT&T’s head of video programming, Dan York. “We’re thrilled to add YES to our expansive sports programming lineup so Yankees and Nets fans in Connecticut can watch their favorite teams.”

AT&T is planning to continue enhancing and expanding the U-verse offering over the coming months, as pert of its “Project Lightspeed” fiber-optic communication initiative. The company hopes to see its television service available to some 19 million households by the end of 2008.
