Sprint Nextel has released two new dual-mode cell phones, the Motorola Blend ic402 and Buzz ic502, which use Sprint’s CDMA network for cellular voice and data, and Nextel’s iDEN network for push-to-talk service.

This deal is aimed at giving Sprint customers access to Nextel’s highly reliable and functional walkie-talkie service, which was acquired by Sprint when the two companies merged in 2005.

The new line of dual-mode services will be collectively known as PowerSource, distinguishing them from Sprint’s CDMA-only plans. Bundled PowerSource plans are now available starting at $40/month, with unlimited push-to-talk service available by itself for $5/month.
