U.S. telecom giant, Verizon Communications will likely sign-up another 1.1 million FTTP fiber optic broadband and television customers over the course of this year, according to a report by UBS Investment Research.
Verizon itself hasn’t released its official subscriber growth projections for 2007, or final results for 2006, in which it aimed to serve 725,000 fiber optic broadband users and 175,000 FiOS television customers.
The company has said that it hopes to focus much of its attention over the next couple of years on extending its FTTP network to serve more multiple dwelling units, such as condo buildings and apartment complexes, noting that around 20% of its customers live in these structures.
