Sources say that web services giant, AOL, is negotiating an acquisition deal with Third Screen Media, a fast-growing mobile advertising company.

Third Screen Media currently displays about 10 million mobile advertisements every day, up from 4 million/day three months ago, and represents an increasingly hot niche within the new media landscape. Microsoft entered talks to acquire the company last week, but was ultimately unable to reach a mutually acceptable deal.

Analysts now believe that Third Screen could sell for as much as $80 million, after closing a major deal with Universal McCann that brought the Interpublic Group advertising agency on board as a distribution partner.
