D-Link has launched a new wireless networking product that bridges the gap between 3G cellular broadband and 802.11 Wi-Fi.

The D-Link 3G Mobile Router can be used in conjunction with EV-DO, UMTS, and HSDPA cellular broadband adapters, which conveniently plug into the device’s integrated CardBus slot. It also features WEP, WPA, and WPA2 security features, and acts as a regular Wi-Fi router when no cellular adapter is being used.

This useful device is being produced in two different models, the DIR-450 (for EV-DO) and the DIR-451 (for UMTS/HSDPA). At a suggested retail price of around $300, they are comparable in price to Kyocera’s KR1 Mobile Router, which became available last year.
