Wireless messaging carrier, Sybase 365, says that it delivered a record-breaking number of SMS and MMS messages in 2006, handling a total of over 25 billion cross-carrier text and multimedia communiques over the twelve-month period.

Sybase’s predecessor, Mobile 365, launched the first inter-operator message delivery network in 2001, and has since linked together the SMS and MMS systems of more than 700 cell phone operators around the world.

“The sheer volume of messages delivered by Sybase 365 in 2006 reflects the remarkable growth of the mobile messaging market, as well as our ability to reliably handle these growing traffic volumes,” commented the company’s president, Marty Beard. “As mobile messaging becomes more complex, the Sybase 365 network will continue to provide an operator-grade, high-volume delivery infrastructure that is fault-tolerant and scalable to meet the highest standards.”
