Verizon Adds Cell Phone Services to Triple-Play Bundle
5:50 am on February 1, 2007 | Category: Business, Telecom Services, Wireless
Verizon Communications is adding cell phone subscriptions to its menu of bundled services, allowing customers to save between $8 and $28 per month by signing up for wireless on the same bill as DSL, DirecTV satellite television, and fixed-line telephone service.
The new deals are being offered in most markets covered by Verizon’s local telephone network, but do not yet include an option to bundle fiber-optic television services for a discount.
The bundled service plans are being rolled out after a year in which cable operators lured around 2.5 million telephone customers away from Verizon and other U.S. telephone carriers.
Cable companies have made significant headway in the quadruple-play telecommunications market by bundling home television service with broadband internet, digital telephone, and most recently, wireless plans, through a partnership with Sprint Nextel.
