Virgin Media has signed a TV content deal with Time Warner Inc. that will bring a number of popular U.S. drama and comedy shows, including Friends, The OC, West Wing, and ER to Video On Demand subscribers in the UK.

No financial details were given about the deal, but Virgin Media president and CEO, Steve Burch revealed that it was his company’s biggest content investment so far.

Virgin Media was created earlier this month when cable operators, NTL and Telewest, merged with Virgin’s mobile phone division to create a Britian’s first “quadruple-play” telecommunications and entertainment provider.

In addition to the Time Warner deal, Virgin has bought content from Channel 4, HBO, and Buena Vista, which distributes Disney movies in markets outside the U.S.
