Alcatel-Lucent announced this week that it has won a contract to supply and integrate an urban Wi-Fi broadband network in the Italian province of Trento.
Local regulators awarded the contract to Alcatel-Lucent and a consortium of sub-contracting companies, including Essentia and Sensi. The project’s precise financial value was not disclosed.
“The network Alcatel-Lucent is deploying will provide 1,600 WiFi access points and will be one of the largest in Italy and all of Europe,” commented Alcatel-Lucent’s regional president for Trento, Lorenzo Dellai, in a press release.
