Bell Canada rolled out a new wireless plan this week that allows Bell Mobility cell phone users to make unlimited local calls to an from other Bell mobile and fixed-line telephones
The “Bell to Bell” plan starts at just $10 a month, and includes unlimited anytime local calls within Canada’s largest telecom network, without cutting into existing airtime minutes. This essentially rewards households that use Bell for all their telephone needs, and is intended to stop fixed-line customers from migrating to the digital phone services of cable operators.
“Wireless in Canada is an intensely competitive industry and Bell Mobility is constantly striving to ensure we lead the market,” explained Bell Mobility president, Wade Oosterman, who describes the new plan as “the most compelling offer in Canadian wireless.”
Analysts have speculated that the new offer is a response to a regulatory decision on cell phone number portability, which takes effect on March 14, and will make it easier for customers to switch wireless providers.
