Multi-function wireless devices will become increasingly cheap and versatile over the next few months, according to inCode, a wireless industry consultancy owned by VeriSign.

As the cost of third-generation handsets continues to decline, manufacturers will attempt to bolster profit margins by adding extra features such as music, video, and location-based services to mid-priced handsets, inCode predicts.

Although most of these features aren’t necessary for most people, their appearance in the mainstream will lead to growth in the market for application-specific cell phones, designed primarily around a single non-voice feature like music, video, or mobile blogging.

    1. I think that’s going to be the main thing for tech gadgets now. Just cram as much as you can into as small an object as you can. Video, mp3s, phone, remote control, gps system, etc etc. Look at the iPhone. That’s a perfect example of one of these such products.
