Firefox Gains on Internet Explorer in SMB Browser Market

Mozilla Firefox, a popular open-source web browser, is gaining fast on leading rival, Internet Explorer, in the small to medium-sized business (SMB) sector, according to a recent survey by Toronto-based tracking and billing provider, FreshBooks.
Firefox’s share of the SMB market increased by 1.35% in February alone to reach 38.95%, while Internet Explorer saw its share drop 0.73% to 56.95%.
The survey, which involved a total of over 140,000 small to mid-sized businesses, also indicated that Firefox users were are inclined to upgrade to the latest version, with Firefox 2.0 users now outnumbering their v1.5 counterparts by a ratio of almost 3 to 1. By contrast, Internet Explorer 7 users are still easily outnumbered by those using older versions of the Microsoft browser.
